Steps for burning a stump
To cut a “X” on the top of the stump, you’ll need a chain saw. For burning the stump, the deeper and wider the X, the better. Fill the newly created area with gasoline or kerosene, but do not light it. Allow time for it to seep into the stump, which could take several hours. Pour extra fuel in the area until it runs over the edge and let it rest overnight.
The next morning, light some paper and toss it on top of the trench to set fire to the stump. Follow the steps in the preceding paragraph to make the burn more effective and move faster, but buy a huge metal barrel first. The size you need it to be will be determined by the size of the stump you need to burn. Cut the bottom and top of the metal barrel off and lay it over the stump. To create a decent fire, toss in some logs and add more fuel to the logs.
